District 3 Report – December 2024

Unfortunately, the job calls are still slow. For anyone who has been in the IBEW for any length of time, we’ve seen these days before. It’s the nature of the construction industry, but leading indicators point to work coming next year.

LAUSD has a lot of work coming up, and some of it is already upon us. They’re in the process of adding security cameras to their campuses. To secure this work for yourself, you’ll need to get an Asbestos Operations & Maintenance Class III certification. This information is in our local IBEW halls.

Over here in District 3, we received some news. It looks like LAX might be postponing the construction of the two new terminals. With all the civil work required, they want to minimize the disruption at the airport.

Finally, I’d like to say goodbye to one of our D-3 agents. James “Hoppy” Hopkins. He will be missed.
