Important Notices: Dues Increase, Holiday Update & More!

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,

This shall serve as notice to several important issues coming in the next few months. The first is the scheduled increase of the IBEW per capita tax that goes to the International General Fund. Effective January 1, 2020, both A and BA members shall see an increase of one dollar, from $19.00 to $20.00 monthly per capita tax. This can be found in the beginning of the IBEW Constitution under “ready reference” on pages vi and vii. The Pension Benefit Fund contribution, which is available only to A members, shall remain at $19.00 per month. Remember, these dues are required to be paid in advance. The IBEW Constitution Article XXI, Section 2 states, “when a member’s working card has expired, he at once, without notice, stands suspended from all L.U. benefits.” Please pay your dues monthly if not quarterly in advance to make sure and protect your good standing in the IBEW. Also, always keep the Local Union apprised of your current information, address, phone numbers, email, etc. to keep in contact and insure you get all correspondences which are sent. Read all the important documents and be sure to fill out any paperwork completely and legibly so as not to delay any processing.

Plan on attending the next Local Union General Membership Meeting, November 21, 2019, 5pm, at the ETI, 6023 S. Garfield Ave. City of Commerce, California, 90040. An important vote will be taken regarding the sale of stock held by LACO Elec. Incorporated. The properties at 8333 Airport Blvd. Los Angeles, California, 90045 and 1510 N. Peck Rd. South El Monte, California, 91733 have not been used by the Local Union for over a decade. The members would be better served to sell them and use the funds to benefit the members. Further discussion and the vote will be under unfinished business during the proper order of business at the meeting.

November brings the onset of the holiday season. Remember, Thanksgiving and the day after are recognized holidays. The Local Union halls and offices will be closed. In December, most units will have compressed meetings and a holiday party to celebrate with the members in attendance. Check the IBEW 11 website at IBEW11.org for dates and locations of the meeting closest to you. Take advantage to reconnect with the fellowship and good will that being an IBEW member brings. At the end of the year, the day before Christmas, Christmas day, New Years Eve and New Years Day, the Local Union offices will also be closed.

Finally, the Veteran’s Day Holiday is November 11th. Please pause to remember the brave men and women that have served so that we may enjoy the many benefits and freedom that being a citizen of these United States of America bring.

In Solidarity,

Joel Barton
Business Manager, IBEW 11
