President’s Message – October 2025

Local Forecast: Jobs, Jobs, Jobs

Good news is on the horizon for Local 11 electricians across Los Angeles. The work picture is looking stronger than it has in years. Major public and private projects are ramping up across the region, creating hundreds of opportunities for our members in the coming months and years.

One of the most significant developments is the long-awaited expansion of the Los Angeles Convention Center. This massive project aims to have 80 percent of construction completed in time for the 2028 Olympic Games, and it’s expected to put a couple hundred Local 11 electricians to work. The jobs will include major electrical infrastructure upgrades, lighting, controls, and state-of-the-art energy systems, which will provide steady employment and showcase the skill of union labor on one of the city’s most visible stages.

Meanwhile, up in the Antelope Valley, a large-scale hydrogen, solar, and battery storage project is set to break ground soon. This clean energy development will not only advance California’s renewable energy goals but also provide work for several hundred more electricians. Members can expect to start seeing job calls for this project hopefully in the first quarter of 2026.

With these and other projects moving forward, the future looks bright for IBEW Local 11 members. Stay ready, stay trained, and stay connected. More opportunities are on the way.

In solidarity,

Alton Wilkerson
