President’s Message – December 2024
Preparing for the New Year
Hello Brothers and Sisters,
This time of year is a time for family and togetherness. In this holiday season, take time to reflect on the year and think about all the good times that were had in the year 2024. When you look at your families, let it remind you why you put in all the hard work you did this year.
As the winter season approaches, traditionally construction work tends to slow down a bit. This is an unfortunate norm for our industry. Utilize the available time you have, if any, to spend it with your family.
We are hopeful for better times in our industry for the year 2025. With interest rate cuts and more predicted in the near future, alongside the 2028 Olympics coming our way, these are indicators that more work is on the way. The measures that we fought to get on the ballot will help bring more work to our members in schools, housing, and other markets. We appreciate everyone’s hard work to put this over the top for us in the recent election.
Make sure you keep all your certifications up to date, and consider getting your RSO and TWIC as well if you don’t already have them. There is some projected turn around work coming next year in the refineries, it’s best to be prepared when the job calls come in.
It is an honor and privilege to serve for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and have a Happy New Year.
In solidarity,
Alton Wilkerson
