George Whitesides: Community Leader and IBEW’s Choice for Progress in the Antelope Valley

George Whitesides has spent his career solving problems. Over the past 20 years, he helped lead NASA to new heights as its Chief of Staff, acting as a liaison with the Obama administration and earning the Distinguished Service Medal for his efforts; created some 700 quality jobs in the Antelope Valley as CEO of Virgin Galactic; supported front-line responders and the community during the Covid-19 pandemic; and helped combat the wildfire crisis as co-founder of Megafire Action.

Now, he’s running for Congress in the Antelope Valley to create jobs and expand opportunity in California’s 27th District. We think it’s time for the Antelope Valley to have a Congressman who represents the community he serves.

George is committed to working across the aisle to solve problems for the 27th district, and move the Antelope, Santa Clarita, and San Fernando Valleys forward. In Congress, he will be committed to creating good local jobs, lowering daily costs, protecting reproductive freedom, defending Social Security and Medicare, solving the wildfire insurance crisis, and keeping our families healthy and our communities safe.

George has been a leader in the Community:

• Co-chaired the Antelope Valley Covid-19 Task Force to support front line workers during the pandemic
• Serves on the board of the Antelope Valley Economic Development and Growth Enterprise, working to grow jobs and businesses in the AV
• Was awarded a Partners in Education Excellence for his work supporting underprivileged students
