Sound & Communications Report – October 2024

I would like to welcome Deon Mayes on staff as our second Unit 9 Sound and Communications Business Representative. As the former Assistant Apprentice Director, Deon has advocated for the Sound Unit in many capacities.

Fiber Fusion Course, CCNA program through Rio Hondo College, BICSI certification course partnering with IBEW 357 in Nevada: Our partnership will benefit the needs of this growing unit by providing better coverage throughout LA County.

The journeyman calls are few but that should be changing soon.

The City Hall Planning Commissioners voted unanimously for the USC Discovery Translational Hub Project (DTH). This project will ensure us more work down the pike.

LACCD, LAX, LAUSD and LA METRO have received bonds for more infrastructure work.

Two Subscription Contractors have been awarded work under PLAs. NIC Partners has the La Puente/Hacienda area with 30 schools, and ConvergeOne has 15 LAUSD schools.
