District 3 — April Report

Hello from the Westside,

Hopefully everyone is staying safe and exercising social distancing and wearing your PPE when needed, whether you have chosen to “stay at home” or go to work. Out here in District 3 we still have a few big jobs going on keeping us busy. The Chevron refinery is looking to bring back a skeleton crew from Contra Costa on May 4 with the hopes of bringing the balance of the crew back on May 18. We had a little hiccup here a week ago or so, but it appears the job calls are picking up again slowly. I’d like to remind all the members when taking a job call or already working in the field to know which district you are working in. We have 6 district business agents, a sound & communications / low voltage agent, a traffic and signal agent, and an agent for the CE/CW’s. All the agents are your best resource to answer your questions specific to their area and classification. And we all have the full understanding that we work for you.

On another note, while I write this article on April 21, Brother Oscar Martinez, the organizer for District 3, and all-around great guy, is heading home today from an almost two- month stay in the hospital due to esophageal cancer. Surgery was a success, and recovery will be long. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Fraternally,

Mike Costigan
