Allocation Vote

Sisters and Brothers,

I hope you and your family are all safe and well during this difficult time.

I am reaching out to you regarding the contractual increase for Inside Wireman, Apprentices and Intelligent transportation systems members. $1.80 is slated to be allocated by the members to take effect July 27, 2020. As you know, we usually have a meeting to discuss how the money should be allocated and the members in attendance vote with the majority deciding how to apportion. But these are not usual times.

Based on restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the order that meetings of any kind are prohibited, the Local Union has decided to accomplish this with a vote by mail. You should have received a ballot in the mail along with a self-addressed stamped envelope to vote. All the envelopes are marked Inside Wireman, but this increase applies to Intelligent Transportation electricians and traffic signal apprentices and will be counted separately. Please mark your vote and return immediately as ballots are due Saturday, May 30th.

The Fringe Benefit committee weighed suggestions from the actuary and unanimously approved the recommendation of $1.20 to wages, 25 cents to the Family Medical Plan and 35 cents to the money purchase plan (annuity). Please consider the increased allocation to the Health Plan as you should want to keep the current medical coverage, enjoyed by you and your family.

You will notice 3 choices on the ballot. One for the suggested allocation, one for all the increase to wages and the third for “Other” where you can write in your suggestion. Mark only one choice and send it in the supplied self-addressed stamped envelope and mail immediately. The Local Union Executive Board along with 3 observers will count and tabulate the ballots Monday, June 1st and the results will be posted on the website later that day.

I look forward to when we can meet in the future when this virus is contained.

In closing, I’d like to wish you all a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.
