News regarding our Military Veterans

Following guidance from State and local health officials to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and to encourage social distancing, all LA County Military & Veterans Affairs (MVA) locations will be closed for business until further notice. However, MVA will continue to provide necessary services to veterans and their families via telephone and electronic mail. Claims will continue to be filed electronically, including those for compensation, pension, college fee waivers or burial benefits.

Veterans may contact an MVA Veteran Service Officer directly by calling (877) 4LA-VETS, (213)765-9680 or (213) 765-9681 or via e-mail at outreach@mva.lacounty.gov

For immediate assistance, general questions or to check on the status of a claim or appeal, please contact the VA at 1-800-827-1000 or at the CalVet District Office at (213) 620-2755.

Additionally, the V.A. announced April 3, 2020. A number of actions to provide Veterans with financial, benefits and claims help amid VA’s COVID-19 response.

The financial relief actions include the following until further notice:

Suspending all actions on Veteran debts under the jurisdiction of the Treasury Department.

Suspending collection action or extending repayment terms on preexisting VA debts, as the Veteran prefers.

For benefit debts, Veterans can contact the VA Debt Management Center at 1-800-827-0648 to make arrangements.
